Innocuous Illegal Drugs

Donnie Goodwin

Issue LXII- June 7, 2006

In his article on the harms of the War on Drugs, Mr. G. Stolyarov II wrote, " I personally find all currently illegal
drugs loathsome; they stunt the mind, inhibit the body, and curtail productivity."

In the US, the cannabinoid THC is classified as a drug. However, laws of nature and of nature's God say otherwise.

Hemp's THC is neither a drug nor is it addictive. It does not cause narcosis. There are no known deaths caused as a result of using THC.

Hemp's THC is known to raise consciousness, increase spiritual awareness, and apparently increase
intelligence—
probably by increasing perceptions. Jazz music is an artistic result of using THC by musicians.

Users of hemp's THC are generally more productive workers, have higher salaries and better promotions,
less absenteeism, and less utilization of sick time.

I refer readers to a recent 5/24/06 study entitled, "Cannabis Smoking Not Linked To Lung Cancer, Case-Control Study Says":
http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=6912

The study stated: "'We did not observe a positive association of marijuana use -- even heavy long-term use -- with lung cancer, controlling for tobacco smoking and other potential cofounders,' investigators concluded."

Mr. Stolyarov's assessment of the "War on Drugs" is correct.  Its
cost is $69 billion a year, and—according to the Wall
Street Journal—it is a failure.

Almost 2.2 million people—or one in every 136 U.S. residents—are behind bars. (5/25/06 email from Marijuana Policy Project.)
http://www.mpp.org/

That's 2.2 million families damaged by the "War on Drugs." President Bush and the GOP call the $69
-billion-a-year “War on Drugs” a success by how many families it has damaged—that’s GOP family values.

The "War on Drugs" is kept in place by the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The CSA protects the economic
hegemony of Big Oil, the pharmaceutical cartel, the timber industry, the drug cartel, and the CIA's heroin and cocaine running in the US.

Drug addiction is a problem. However, the hemp plant's THC does have anti-addictive capabilities that can break addiction from hard drugs and from legal drugs such as tobacco and alcohol.

Legalizing all things hemp would undercut the drug cartel and the CIA's drug market. Hemp's THC can be smoked, inhaled as a fragrance, eaten, drunk, or applied topically.
